Your diamonds ability to reflect light, its rarity and beauty are all dependant on its colour.
Each Diamond is evaluated and awarded a colour grade. The Diamond Colour grade uses the alphabet to graph these precious stones from Colourless to light yellow. A ‘Grade D’ is a colourless diamond of the highest value. Colourless Diamonds are extremely rare and are of the greatest value.
Diamonds classed between ‘Grades N & Z’ are light yellow in colour and are readily available.
Coloured Diamonds or ‘Fancies’
Diamonds with strong pure colour are also very rare and are called ‘Fancies’. These Diamonds are valued for their depth of colour (whereas White Diamonds are valued for their lack of colour). Some of the most valuable coloured diamonds are pink diamonds from Australia’s Argyle Mine in Western Australia.
